Let your couture journey begin...

Initial Consultation

Your first appointment with our designer will be for Leigh to get a feel of the type of dress you are looking for whether it be a dress from the Leigh Hetherington collection or a dress that will be unique to you. If it is something unique and bespoke to you we advise brides to bring a mood board/images of the type of dress/style that you are considering. This will enable Leigh to see what inspires you in style, fabric and cut of the dress.

Sketches & Fabric Swatches

After the initial consultation Leigh will draw up sketches from what has been discussed and source relevant fabric swatches for you to view at a follow up appointment.

This service occurs a charge of £50 which will be redeemable against your dress should you proceed with the order. Sketches belong to Leigh Hetherington and can only be taken away if the order is confirmed.

Measurements

Many measurements will be taken to ensure a beautifully fitted garment. The measurements enable our pattern cutting team to create a paper pattern just for you.

Toile Fitting

From the paper pattern that has been created, a toile will be made by our sewing team. This is a basic mock up of your dress in cotton. This will be fitted to you, with necklines, lengths, proportions marked on to this. At this point beadwork and or appliqué maybe marked onto the toile so we can envisage the overall look of the dress. For this fitting you will need all undergarments and shoes that will be worn on the wedding day.

Wedding dress Creation & First Fittings

After the toile has been finalised all adjustments get transferred back to the paper pattern and the creation of your wedding dress will begin. Your bridal fabrics will get cut, the inner corsetry will commence and your dress will start to come to life. Fittings will be needed at this stage to refine any small amendments and to pin for fastenings and length. We advise our brides at this stage to choose their accessories that will compliment their dress. This could be a veil, headpiece or both. Length of veil can be advised and measured to be proportionately correct to the dress. Undergarments and shoes are required at this fitting.

Final Fitting

The final fitting takes place approximately 4-2 weeks before the wedding date where everything will be carefully checked for any minor adjustments.

Collection of Dress

Your dress will be carefully hand pressed and placed into a wedding dress cover for you to collect on a confirmed day.
